Sunday Round Up

This weeks sunday round up is looking a bit skinny as I was up this morning @ 4am and off into the wild (& not so blue) yonder. It’s been a long time since i’ve had to get up that early and I must admit it had me wondering for a while why on earth I chose ‘landscape’ as my genre but, once the sun started rising that question was easily answered. I got back home just in time for the football starting so at the moment i’ve not had the chance to do much more than put the photos into Lightroom. For now, here’s a taster. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again … “I love water!!”

Ok, back to what else has been happening in the world and it seems like the story of The Independent using a Flickr members picture is going to run & run. They should enter this for the 2012 marathon! This time it’s The Guardian getting their 2 penn’eth in.

If you were off trekking in The Himalayas or off visiting the polar bears in N. Yorkshire the Arctic Circle there’s a slight possibility you may have missed the news regarding Apples latest release The iPad. Personally i’m holding off on giving my opinion on it until I see the price as I have my reservations about whether or not they’ll be able to succesfully market it over here so, until then, i’ll point you in the direction of Tim Parkin who shares his thoughts on it here.

Next up is a blog post from Gavin Gough entitled Shooting for Purpose. I love stuff like this because it’s one of those things that you read and it makes such sense you can’t help but wonder “Why didn’t I think of that!”. I remember when I met Gavin that it was pretty much one of the first things he told me and it’s stuck with me ever since. It’s worth repeating though (I can be a forgetful soul when the adrenaline rushes) and it’s most definitely worth sharing. Shoot for Purpose

Last but not least, I try not to go on about gear too much because I know if I start i’ll probably not stop but (there’s always a but) those wonderfully inventive people over at ThinkTank tweeted earlier this week about the HydroPhobia 70-200 Rain Cover. It looks like a great idea for anyone who doesn’t like to head for home when the rain comes down and they also do one to fit 300-600mm lenses as well so you can pretty much cover any lens in your bag with one or the other.

Enjoy the week!

P.S I almost forgot to mention; Natalie Johnson, all-around lovely lady & former editor of the Uk’s best photography mag Digital Photographer, now has her site up @ http://www.nataliejohnsonphotography.com/. If you’re thinking of getting married, looking to drop a subtle hint to a loved one, or you just like wedding photography, head over there & enjoy some great work!
