Vision
If there is one thing that i’ve learnt in life, whether that’s as an artist/photographer or living as we all do through a life that’s not always designed to make us happy, then it’s to remain true to who you are. Polonius hit the nail on the head when he said “To thine own self be true” .. well actually it was Shakespeare saying it through him but, I digress.
When it comes to living and being a photographer, one guy seem to understand this better than most. His name, David Duchemin. Hot on the heels of his best selling “Within The Frame – The Journey of Photographic Vision” comes the equally lengthy title “VisionMongers: Making a Life and a Living in Photography” and you can get them both direct from either the publishers Peachpit, or any half-decent bookstore.
Do yourself a favour, head over there now and make yourself or a loved-one incredibly happy for Christmas. Think about it … What would you rather be doing? Enjoying reading a great book with a glass of wine and a fine cigar, or sitting down to Bing Crosby belting out ‘I’m dreaming of a white Christmas’ for the 37th time whilst the in-laws argue ‘leg or breast?’ for who gets the best bit of the turkey? You know it makes sense!
